Overview

Since I started Thunderbolt in 2000, it has grown into one of the leading independent videogames websites on the Web. We have around thirty volunteer staff writers from around the world and together we’ve written nearly three million words.

Design

In contrast to the larger, commercial videogames websites, Thunderbolt has a relatively minimal aesthetic. It has no advertisements and articles have been designed to be as legible as possible.

Technology used

Thunderbolt is built with XHTML, CSS, jQuery, PHP and MySQL. We use a custom content management system, which I also built from scratch.
